WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES(WMOF2018)

Pope Francis has personally chosen Dublin to be the host diocese for the World Meeting of Families from 21-26 August 2018. Hosting this important event requires an enormous amount of planning and funding. In this regard a second national collection will be held next weekend (1st & 2nd April). Your support for this collection would be greatly appreciated.

WMOF2018 will include Eucharistic Celebrations, a festival of families, exhibitions, performances, events around the city, among many other things. . During these five days, there will be time to meet and share, pray and reflect, grow in faith and love, celebrate, as well as gather strength to continue the journey of life.

The event has at its heart three main moments:

22nd- 24th August: World Meeting of the Families three-day congress
Daily celebration of the Eucharist, prayerful activities, keynote speakers, workshops and exhibitions. Each day will reflect on the theme “The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the World” chosen by the Holy Father.

Evening of 25th August: Festival of Families
A festive time, where we gather to celebrate the gift of family from the perspective of the specific theme of the World Meeting. This will be a cultural celebration of music, dance, song, within a prayerful and joyful setting, and with the aid of stories given by families representing the five continents.

26th August-Solemn Eucharistic Celebration. The World Meeting of the Family 2018 will conclude with a Solemn Mass in thanksgiving to God, the Holy Trinity for the gift of family and for its sanctification.

Who is invited to WMOF2018?
Everybody is invited to participate, including single people, couples with or without children, extended families and clergy. Thousands of families and individuals from all over Ireland and the world are expected to attend. Adults, youth and children are all invited to take part.
